I do not know anything about Windows 2000, but I got it to run on both
Dos 5.0, Dos 6.22 and currently Windows 95 C (OSR 2.5 which is very
    similar to Windows 98).

    Have you:
    1) updated it to the latest patch? 1..0.0.3 or 1.0.0.4 (3 being the last
"official" patch and 4 the one with the DM tools)
    2) have it run alone with no other programs running in the background
    3) have it run in a full window (or how that is named in english?)
    bye

DOS installation should work. To do that, start INSTALL.BAT in the root of CD. When the DOS installation is complete, just copy WINBR.EXE to the folder where you installed the game, which is usually sierrairthrt. It works great for me on WinXP.
