I was aware of Birthright during the 2nd edition, but never played it, I'm more interested now, but I have some concern.

The table 5-2 page 88, limits the level of provinces, and I'm wondering how an egypt-like provinces could exist under this system (desert+river max level 2).

Under the draft 0.0 rules I assume that an egypt like province would
look like Khinasi realms like Binsada or Ariya or Zikala. One highlevel
city province, the whole surrounding provinces lowlevel desert.

The terrain changes (Plains no longer 10 but 8, but add +1 for river and
+2 for coastal) are good to better reflect history. The first
settlements most often closely followed trade routes/rivers. However do
I understand it right, that the +1 for rivers is for EACH river? e.g.
Endier is where the Tuor and the Maesil River join, so Plains 10 (8+1+1)?

And Anuire City would be 8+2 +1 (coastal + Maesil) = 11 maximum?

In addition I think Khinasi and Rjurik Rulers are cheated with their
level 1 for Tundra and Desert.
In most PBEMS it would not matter, as most games center on Anuire, but
in a Cerilia wide view, the Anuriean regents have the best of lands...
Perhaps: A racial +1 bonus for Rjurik and Vos in Tundra and +1 for
    Khinasi in Desert?
    bye

Much of egypt would be desert, but I`d say the area along the lower Nile
where most of the population lived was swamp or even plains due to massive
irrigation. Farther north, the Nile delta was definitely not desert.
