When you are installing it don't test your system, because what happens is it's so old that when it tests it the program thinks that the stuff you have can't exist and freaks out. But beyond that does anyone know where I can get the latest patch for this game, and maybe the character and map editors also?

I am having probs with the game, and maybe one of you guys can help. I have tried to install it do dos, and seems to run fine, except that there are no characters on the screen. For example, on the main menu, there is no Create New Game, Options Quit, etc.

Anyone know whats wrong or how I can fix it?

If you have done a DOS install, just copy WINBR.EXE into the directory where you installed it and use this file to run the game. It should work fine now.

Do you actually run it in DOS after intstalling the DOS version? Or do

you try to run the DOS version from Windows?

If you install the DOS version and then start it in Windows you

    experience just that error.

If you are looking for the last patch and some of the other updates, you can still download them from http://home.iprimus.com.au/msell/birthright/

I can't help you wish XP problems though, as I only run win98.

    Gents,

Because the hardware layer in XP is similar to that of NT it is not responde the way the game expects there for you get the sperious errors (int 0, etc). During the install do not attempt to test, skip it and install. I can run it in full window mode on my machine, but if I attempt to run it in full screen mode I only get 16 colors (annoying). I have not had any other problems with the game, and have won it a couple times at different difficulty settings.

Use of Patch 04 which introduces the DM Toolkit allows multi-empires but no matter what I attempt the DM run empires do not cycle the turn, keep gold/regency counts, or commit any non-free action. Anyone got any ideas I'm all ears -- thanx
