Hi !
My name is Saliard and I am 32 and French. ;-)
I know well D&D from DD to DD3e and lots of other RPGs.
I'd like to create a new campaign using DD3e and BirthRight but I know nothing about BirthRight...
I have read in this site a little and nearly everything is ADD2...
How can I create PCs in DD3e ?
Is there somewhere the conversion rules ?
What are the minimums required to play in the BirthRight Campaign Setting ?
I hope you can help me ....

Welcome to the wonderful world of Birthright. As far as 3rd ed conversions and such - check the Birthright announcement section on this board. We are diligently working on a Birthright Campaign Setting (BRCS) that is 3rd ed. If you just can't wait, check out the downloads section where you will find several different "conversions" to choose from. None of them are bad, all are slightly different - oh and most of us who have posted the conversions are on the BRCS development team so the final project should be a very fine one, all modesty aside.:)

I think the best way to become familiar with the Birthright realm is to play the PC game. It can be obtained very cheaply off of E-Bay. Then again, I'm a newbie to the forum, so what do I know? lol, j/k, but I have had the PC game for several years and am still not tired of it.

While the PC game is enjoyable, unfortunately it doesn't like window XP so I don't get to play it much anymore, it is not the same as the RP Game. There is no role playing in a PC game. Also many of the actions in the PC game are simplified so that they can work on a computer so they are not really accurate. Some knowledge of the mechanics can be gained by playing the PC game though, e.g., domain actions and war moves.

Another question to BRCE: Will the battle system be reviewed?
e. g. going completely away from the only 3X5 squares large battlefield
and the only 1 terrain card (or as in 3E Travis manual 1 terrain card
for 2 source levels - which is still very few if one looks at a province
like Thasbyrn for example: the province is covered with forest and has
even in addition to the forest some hills, but the rules would allow
only 1 forest card (2E) or 2 forestcards (Travis 3E) on a battlefield
only 15 squares large.
Will there be new restrictions on how many units can be in one square of
the battlefield? In 2E one could stack 200 units on one beneficial hills
square in the extreme - the only limit of placing large numbers on
beneficial squares I know is the fortification card, which can take only
as much units as the castle has levels. And then in 3E Travis only 1
unit on 1 square to go to the other extreme "a unit may never enter an
area that already contains a friendly unit" - which screams for a
battlefield much larger than 3X5 squares so that a larger armys can face
each other and (say if Ghoere fights the Gorgon) 100 units on each side
have to wait until there is space on the battlefield where only 15 units
have place.
Will the 3E save system be used? e.g. Military units save vs. spells
with only one type of saving throw - unlike personal battles in 3E where
there are reflex, will and fortitude saves -big easy to hit knights in
heavy armour should not be as able to dogde the fireball as fast as
lightly armoured scouts in my opinion.

We are currently reviewing the battle system. The first try at what it should look like hasn't been put up for discussion so it would be impossible to say what it will look like. We are trying to make things as simple as possible in everything we put together, so its my belief that the final result will be pretty streamlined and quick to use.

I`ve not tried the PC game on XP, but I have used XP at work, and there`s
a backward compatibility mode you can set to run programs, which could get
the game running. XP will emulate 98, ME, NT, or 2000 I think, for
programs to run inside. That might fix the game for you. Check the help
files on the box, I`m not sure how to do it myself.

Well unfortunately even that 'simulating an old OS'-mode of WinXP doesn't always work. Birthright is very old and still based on DOS a lot i think.
I ye can't play it under WinXP maybe a multi-boot system might do the trick.
Sorry for me to rush in here all of a sudden, but i registered some months ago and since then a lot has changed here, nice site and forums ye're having(and even run by a Dutchman, hoe gaat het ermee man?:) ).
The PC-game is the only bond i have to Birthright but i liked the game very much, it was too much underestimated by everyone IMO.
