I celebrated when I read the 3ed of D&D! I thought it was great.

But when I thought about Birhtright, I knew I had a lot of work ahead of me. But the online conversion manual and the online Rule book have helped me a lot.

But one thing has bothered me alot. The priest. They are so diferent in Birthright 2ned then in 3ed. (diferent weapons, diferent powers... etc.). It is thought that the domains should mark theyr difrences but it doestn to that enough. So I started a project to change the clerics

The project was to do few things
1.Change the spell list of the clerics. Make each spell list be a representative of the Gods portfolio.
2.Make the cleric more player friendly. So add few powers and change them so the players can feel theyr cleric advancement.

I have been working on this for some time, here is my take on Ruornil:

Priest of Ruornil

Priests of Rournil serve as the keepers of the magical lore and as the ever vigilant guardians against the encroachments of the shadow-world into Cerillia.
Devoted to the God of Magic they boast what is probably the most versatile spell selections of all classes. Their eternal vigil against shadow-world is reflected in their undead-turning abilities decent combat abilities and some unique spells.

Class Abilities:

Weapon and Armour Proficiency:
Priests of Ruornil are proficient in all armour and in the following weapons: dagger, javelin, quarterstaff, sling, halfspear, shortspear and short sword. They can spend feats to learn other weapons normally.

Turning Undead:
Priest’s main tool in their fight against shadow-world is their turn undead ability. In addition to turning undead Ruornil’s priests can use this ability to turn creatures native to shadow-world (including halflings) and seal portals to shadow-world. Their particular expertise in this ability is reflected by the Extra Turning feat they gain at first level as a class ability and the one of the: Empower Turning, Heighten Turning and Quicken Turning they are able to pick at every four level hereafter. (Charisma requirements still apply).

Spells:
Priests of Ruornil casts spells from their own spell list according to the table. They can not swap their spells for healing. Their bonus spells are based on Wisdom.

Spurn Shadow’s Touch:
A 2nd level Priest of Ruornil gains a Saving Throw bonus equal to their wisdom bonus to all draining attacks by shadow-world creatures.

Moon Magic:
Ruornil is the Moon God and his power increases under the light of moon. In order for the priest to benefit from the moon magic he has to have unobstructed view of the natural moonlight. Viewing moon through the normal window counts but the reflections in mirror or images in scrying ball or similar device do not. This ability is useless on the night of the new moon (night between 32th and 1st of each month in Cerilian calendar) . Cloudy weather or other atmospheric phenomena can prevent the visibility of the moon and thus disable this ability.
When the conditions are met, DC of the saving throws against the spells cast by the priest is increased by the Moon Magic level of the priest (one third of priest’s level rounded down). In addition, priest can attempt to use Metamagic feats to try to boost his prepared spells without using higher level spell slots. For each Moon Magic level priest attains he can specify a single metamagic feat that can be used in this way. (Priest still has to have access to that feat in order to use it). The use of the feat is announced when the spell is cast (not when it is prepared) and the success is determined by a check with following DC: 10 + 5 per each level metamagic feat would have otherwise increased the spell by.
(So it is 25 for Maximize Spell, 15 for Silent Spell etc) Modifiers are:
+10 during the full moon (13th-20th of each month)
+5 during the half moon (5th -12th and 21st-28th)
Only other thing that can modify this role is Priest’s wisdom modifier and some rare items consecrated to Ruornil
If the check fails, priest has choice of casting the spell without the feat enhancement or losing it. Up to priest’s level worth of enhancement levels can be attempted in a moon-phase (so 9th level priest can try to maximize a spell three times or silence a spell nine times etc.. every 8 days. Failed attempts still count and no attempts can be saved).
Priest can only boost a spell using his ability if he would have been able to cast a spell of the level the spell would be if boosted regularly using the feat.

Sealed life:
At 7th level, priest of Rournil is immune to the energy draining abilities of the shadow-world creatures.

True Death:
At 7th level all undead creatures slain by the priest of Ruornil are released from their state and can never again be raised as undead.

Aura of Courage:
At 11th level priests of Rournil gain Aura of Courage similar to that of the paladin but only fear effects it helps against are those generated by the creatures and effects of shadow-world.

Moonlight Burst:
In stead of two turning attempts priest of Rournil of level 13 and above can choose to deal the damage to all shadow-world creatures within 100 feat from him. Damage is 1d6 for every two levels of the priest. Damage can be halved by a successful reflex saving throw

Has anyone done any converting for Haelyn?

sivar
11-21-2001, 11:05 AM
NO I havent made any convertion of Haelyn.

But I made an convertion of Belinik, Kriesha and Laerme. They seem to be working fine... but there are some discussion in my group about them.

If any one want one please send me a line and I will drop it of in your mailbox ( I wont send it here because nobody cares to read it... at least I would not read Rournil... sorry!)

I will convert Haelyn but it wont be done right away because of the exams I am taking now.

But wait for a month or two and I will get it done.

Bramadan,

Your posting was great but would be more beneficial to people if you posted in the writers guild. If you did any work on the other gods I think people would appreciate it if you posted them there too.

Great work.
