I really like this idea, especially of allowing temples (and maybe even
conclaves, my "wizard holding") to use sources to expand into.

I have 7 types of non-province holdings IMC.

* Law, which acts as the primary tax-gathering institution for regents
(instead of province).
* Guild, which acts as the local craft and professional institutions.
* Trade, which acts as the primary channels for foreign (and very
profitable) trade. replaces trade routes to fit more in line with "real
world" use of trade routes with far-off lands. Works just like the other
holdings, just creates far more money than anything else.
* Temple, which acts as formal, organized religious institutions.
* Conclave, which acts as formal, organized arcane learning and hoarding
institutions.
* Theatre, which acts as the entertainment organizations in the region.
Circuses, theatres, dance halls, etc.
* Source, which is the natural "magic of the land" power flowing in the
wilderness.

I myself wouldn't allow it. Sorcerers and druids have a natural affinity to the land's magic which allows them to cast spells. Wizards may attend or aprentice themselves to learn how to manipulate those powers. Clerics on the other hand use a different type of magic altogether, divine magic, which comes from their chosen god. Adding a source to an already powerful temple would to me seem more like power gaming.

I have turned over most of unoccupied sources in Rjurik lands to the Emerald
Spire. Nearly all the temple holdings belong to the Oaken Grove.

We often see the combination of province and law holdings, and the
combination of guild and trade assets. Occasional alliance of temple and
source holdings will not produce any unbalances that the ability to combine,
say temple and law holdings doesn`t already produce.
