I created a page on Sethien Avan. I figured it is time to lift the veil of this enigmatic figure that should be well known through out Anuire. You are free to add anything you like to the page. Bring Sethien Avan to life.

22 children? I thought blooded nobles rarely got many children?

He's a notable exception.

Why wouldn't blooded nobles have many children - I note that the 22 noted only covers those who were legitimate and survived to adulthood!

Game-wise having vast numbers of scions could undermine the 'special' nature of bloodline - although bloodline amortisation rules should mean that the threat isn't too great - you'd get a cloud of scions but it would never spread too far from the core regents and should thin out rapidly.

Socially I can see reasons for strong restrictions on casual progeny for the nobility - particularly outside of the noble class as the youths might then seek to undermine inheritance and thus impoverish the family, etc.

But medieval families did have large broods. The difference here being that the nobles would be more able to afford the simple clerical healing that would almost guarantee survival of the children/wives. That high survival rate could then reduce the need for a large family but I'd still expect 4-6 as the norm at least.

With 8 wives, that seems quite a decent number of children.
