I just want to take a moment to acknowledge the fact that this month
makes it 10 years of birthright-l archives. The list existed before
it began archiving to the current system, but the fact that it`s
existed in its current incarnation for a decade is quite
something. An Internet system that survives 10 years is comparable
to 70 dog-years, eleven cat-lifetimes, or six hosts for a Trill symbiote.

For those who have been around that long, I offer a hearty
toast. Long Life, folks... and I don`t mean the blood ability.

Best,
Gary

yes lee, its been that long.. remember we had the 10 year registration problem we had with BR.net earlier this year..

but it is great to see that many are still around, and those who arent are not forgotten

Does that mean that br.net has lasted longer than D&D 3e then? Well done anyway. It's always hard to make a virtual community and then maintain it when there is little domain action outside the community.

wotc used to have a different mailinglist service.. that was launched in 1996.. in 1998 BRnet was launched.. at first a 2ed continuation of the BR netbook maintained by ian.
in 1999 wotc closed down the other mailinglist and continued with the current listserv engine.
so thats why BRnet exisits "longer" the the current mailinglist

It's an impressive achievement. You should be proud of carrying the flag so long.
