Has anyone tried a Mythic China / Romance of the Three Kingdoms (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romance_of_the_Three_Kingdoms#Zhuge_Liang_calmly_h olds_off_five_armies) setting with BR rules? From what I understand of the ruleset, it seems a solid fit.

Welcome.
I'm assuming you are the same "frankthedm" from the Enworld boards.
Enjoy the cross-over.
No I hadn't even heard of this one until now.
It does look promising though, a few "tweaks" and you could make a fit.
At least the domain level aspects that is.
I'm not sure exactly how to incorporate the bloodlines though.
Perhaps a more "heridatary" thing where the scions are "children of the gods" type of issue.
This would, of course also bring up how to handle bloodtheft.
I guess bloodlines could always be totally dropped if desired though.

Romance of the 3 Kingdoms is too lieutnant based, for example your lieutnant can become general of the enemy army and aid you in the middle of the battle. The tactics of that game are too dirty for Birthright.
It is Birthright without magic and less honour.

There is magic, but its more subtle.
I wouldn't say there is less honor, but the honor code is different. Some of the characters are very honorable.

Sounds perfectly apt to me....

Ah, I'm disappointed, I really thought you had all posts on this board committed to memory;)
We did discuss the three kingdoms briefly, about a year ago. Look here.
It would be great as an oriental BR setting I believe, though my last oriental campaign was years ago, using the old AD&D Oriental Adventures hardcover - which was also the first book that really connected political background events with roleplaying in my mind.
I have never seen the related computer games, but the novel is one of the best sources of inspiration even for standard birthright. It instantly brings up adventure ideas in my mind and as reference for political and military situations it ranks right next and equal to Sun Tsu's The Art of War and Machiavelli's writings.

I played both the 2nd and 3rd versions of the computer game (and kind of prefered the 2nd). I have gotten a lot of good ideas for rewards from the game. Generally you could find swords, books, and horses. Swords improved one of your generalship attributes, books made your advisors smarter, and horses made whoever had it impossible to capture. These objects had a domain effect in the R3K world, and it seemed natural to make objects that could similarly benefit the BR ruler and his lieutenants.
