View Full Version : Recruiting Evil Overlords
Over on the fora for "Treasure Tables" (a set of blogs and discussions for GMs) there is a forum set up for recruiting and feeding evil overlords. This is a method of getting players who cannot fit into one's regular playing group to contribute from afar, by playing various factions or power players that might oppose or interact with the main player group. They would communicate with the GM by email.
This sounds to me like something very BR-ish, in essence farming out some of the NPC domains in a campaign to more players.

I made an attempt at this once, but never heard back from the player after I recruited her.

I've done this in table top games with friends of mine who game, but live out of town. My best success was with a player who game up with the general plans of and operations of the Duke of Osoerde. He came up with ideas and things to do I never would have thought of, and then I acted as his lieutenant and put his overall strategy into the game. He was a role player and a strategy gamer, but he didn't play BR. I got him a copy of Gorgon's Alliance, but that was only a basic framework for a table top RPG.
Excellent idea to recruit evil overlords.

What about having a suggested strategy section for each realm added to the wiki entries or discussion threads? I was thinking each person that wanted to contribute could take a regent and come up with four domain turns worth of planned actions. We could start with the NPC realms which would help with amatuer DMs like myself.

Probably, I do not understand, but you wish to recruit some regents for NPC domains? Or you wish to introduce this forum (a remarkable one, I admit) to BR-users?
I'm available for first case (next 5 months I'm free from DMing).

Another good thing to consider is the AAR, or After Action Report, where a player describes the how some part of the game went. As such you can provide ideas by describing what your game's domains did.

The latter case, really. I`m between campaigns, and I`m not sure my
semi-professional employment will allow me to run much in the future.
