I have started on the atlas page. It was still linking/containing this portal template which doesnt work anymore on vaultwiki. So i had to come up with something else.

Also i wanted to have it more as a landing page for quick browsing/navigating through the wiki.. atlast related stuff ofc.

take a look, and comments and help on filling the gaps are welcome

I like the look of it although we clearly have quite a lot of filling in to do.

Good start. I had a quick think of what should be added but I am not sure where they should go.

noble families?
rjurik tribes?
festivals (which aren't defined by regions)
equipment (e.g. weapons, ships, artifacts)
animals (regional?)
awnshehglien/ehrsheghlien
organisations & guilds

Are these the sort of things you think should be in the Atlas?

yup, those were my little concerns as well.. or for example what to do with dwarven/elven.. they could have an own browsebar for their self.

perhaps we need to change the structure to improve it.. ill give it some thoughts. But thats why i put something up, so we can discuss it and have a starting point.

the main reason i want the atlas "starting" page, is that even I sometimes can not find pages really fast.. while i even KNOW they are there.. but asking myself, how the hell am i getting to that page, i know its there, but not exactly where.

i am still thinking if EVERYTHING should be in the atlas.. or perhaps split it up into two different ones.
lore/history vs geography

i always keep 1 rule in mind when trying to come up with a structure, i have to get to an unknown page within 4 clicks. In many cases, the wiki lacks this.

for example: i want to see a list of important Rulers .. how do i get there? where to start?
sometimes i am looking for a domain, but i kinda forgot which region is was, was it eastern marches, Western reaches aaarg.. searching didnt find anything since my spelling was wrong or the wiki search displays a page where i am not looking for.

currently i feel the wiki is only readable for harcore-br fans that know where to look, but for the new and inexperienced br player, you just dont know where to look.

So therefore i try to come up with some "starting pages" to make things easier.

i'd love to hear your thoughts on how things can be improved

Perhaps the major groups should be

People

npcs
ehr/awnsheghlien
families and tribes
races

Places & groups

geography (e.g. rivers, seas, forests, regions)
guilds
organisations
domains
landmarks
religion

Things

equipment
ships

Events

history
festival

Flora and fauna

simple beasts
beasts of blood
beasts of shadow
plants

This is just a quick list, and very crude. Just to give you an idea of the way I am thinking.

I like the layout very much, although as Sorontar says, more could be added.

It certainly helps navigating about the wiki.

sigh. How do I edit the boxed to add links into them?

As in a wikilink?

Use Anuirean rather than [[Anuirean]].
If the words don't match the article,
use [wiki=ARTICLENAME] instead of just [wiki]

I am still trying to work out how to write the above lines in forum postings and not have them work as activated links (and hide the wiki /wiki bits).

Rather embarrasingly my problem is more basic. When I click on edit I can't see the tables at all, just the fluff text before/after. I had been thinking about populating some of the boxes in the tables.

I understand, it has taken me a while to find them. Search in the wiki for "browsebar". It should give you links to pages like Stat_Blocks:browsebar_rjurik , which you can then modify. These work like the Domain tables do. They are imported into any page which refers to them. I have done an edit on that page to show you what you can do.

the next thread in this forum describes what i have done with the statblocks

including a page used to be possible with mediawiki, buti had to rewrite a lot of code to make it work on VW.

Hmm, well I made somewhat a mess of trying to add existing pages to the lists. And similarly on the main page when I added a line to make it easier to navigate to the browserbar and the random page - the links didn't work for those.

I'm thinking that the wiki 101 is now sadly obsolete. :(

I have tried to fix the Main Page for you. The random page link now works (needed [wiki=Special:Random]). I have redirected 'category' to "Special:Categories". The browserbar one I wasn't sure what you were trying to point to but I have changed the link to the forum where there are links to ech browserbar that has been created. I have titled this link as "regional links".

Update: also fixed the edits to Anuire's browserbar

Thanks, that sounds like what I was failing miserably to do.
