with bloodtheft, does the 'last of the line' mean that you have to be
the last person alive of your line-- or that you have to be the
youngest person of your line..

Also, if you got married-- does your wife count as part of your line??

What if you get married to someone with a higher bloodstrength than you,
does that make YOU the last of your line if you were an only child, or
are your kids the last of your line-- even though their of the spouses
blood derivation..

Historically, lineage passed from parent to child, and therefore, a wife (or
husband) is not considered to be part of a line. last of a line typically
meant just that..you are the last living person with your bloodline. If
your children are of a different derivation, they are not directly of your
line, they are of the lineage of your spouse.

I don't know if this will help, but the way that I always run it is like
this:
The book is talking about family lineage, not bloodline. Thus if my
father had Brenna Bloodline, but I had Anduiras, I would still be the
last of his line, because I stand to inherit his kingdom when he is
dead.
The reason that I think this, is because in the earlier paragraphs the
book talks about severing the tie between regent and land, thus taking
away the RP the next in line stands to inherit.
It would work like this-- Father (Brenna Bloodline), Daughter (Anduiras
Bloodline), and Son (Anduiras Bloodline). The father is killed, and
then the son. The killer goes after the daughter, and if he kills her
(since there is nobody else in the direct family to claim the throne),
he gets the bonuses for the 'last of the line'.
Just my opinion

Yeah, thats what they mean for it. What I was asking is afew simple
lil questions.. Mainly.. When you get married, do you start over as
a new line-- or does your line become the line of the stronger person..

Id have to say the second option, because that makes more sense.. Else
we'd only have one line of roele, and then the line of next
emporeor/wife, then the line of next/emporeor wife. Also, thats the
reason that when a king dies, /his/ brother is eligible to be the next
king, but not his wifes brother.

Basically, what im saying is that-- The derivation isnt the line.. Im
not saying you have to kill off all brennas, just /your/ particular
line of brennas :) Thus, if your

Father (Brenna,15) and you marry Mother (Andurias,30). Your kids
will be Son (Andurias,23) and Daughter (Anduiras,23). If the father
didnt have any living brothers or parents or other relitives of the
same line, and somebody killed him-- they'd get +3 blood strength
for killing the last of the line.

On the other hand, lets say that the Mother has a sister (Andurias,30)
with a family that has three daughters (Andurias,20). The two sisters
also has a mother (Andurias,35). If you wanted to get the +7
'end-of-line' bonus for killing the mother, you'd have to kill a total
of 7 people, and /then/ the mother. Her line is bigger :)

That brings up a related point... I have noticed that some players will
repeatedly make their characters only children, to save them work on
character background. But in BR, this could make a character's life alot more
difficult. If a Regent, the character makes a more appealing target for
assassination, since a warlord could more easily take the throne of a country
that is in turmoil without a king... such as in The Iron Throne. Both regents
and scions would be targeted by bloodthieves persistently, because the
greater power the assailant stands to gain, the greater the risks he would
take to get it... Soon everyone's family trees will begin to resemble oaks
rather than pines...
