Just what is the average speed a galleon ? Well, lets find out, using
with my favorite tool, math...
To make things a little easier, I've summed up the changing wind
direction, and the average ship's course into one premise:
25% of the journey, a ship sails into the wind
25% of the journey, a ship sails with the wind
50% of the journey, a ship sails across the wind.
As for wind strength, I've ignored the "next day" column.

Average Daily Move (in areas)
A 2.66
B 0.83
C 1.33
C1 1.51
C2 2.06
D 0.88
D2 2.01

These figures assume that a gale or storm does not occur. If a gale (5.6%
chance) or a storm (2.8% chance) occurs that day, refer to the standard
gale/storm movement rules. [roll d%, on a 01-91 the ships travels
normally, on a 92-97 the ships suffers a gale, on a 98-100 the ship suffers
a storm]
