Hi there got a question for whom ever can anwser it.=

Question: How do I translate regency or regency points into game
terms? I mean, its easy to with blood points. It just means how much of the
god you have in you. But regency is more complicated because you are getting
more every three months. How can I role-play a loss in regency? Say some one
stole regency points for you. How do I describe it in character terms?

First I don't think it's possible to steal regency from a living
ruler. From what I understand, the only way you lose that regency is if
you're bloodthefted (is that a word?). If a regent is killed by a heart
strike, the regency goes to the killer, istead of to the regents heir.
As for describing it in game terms. I always saw regency as
"enhanced" charisma. A lot of the actions "regency" must be spent to do
strike me as needing influence (other than spells). I tend to think of
regency as the amount of pull a character has from his/her ties with the
land, or spendable charisma. A regent has strong pull because of the
LH's, a court mage because of the SH's, etc... You get so much back
every three months because you still hold control of those holdings, and
are thus still very influencial.

The way I handle regency is simple - Influence. The bigger your domain,
the more influence you have. Regency represents what people are willing to
do for you. Example - Bongo the thief guildmaster wants to rule up his
guild in your capitol. He spends RP to increase his success roll - IOW, he
greases a few palms, calls in some favours, threatens a few local merchants
into working for him. As regent, you oppose him by spending RPs - greasing
some plams and calling favours of your own (or whatever). It works quite
well for losses of regency. Ex - the Orthodox Imperial Church of Haelyn
deliberately accuses Guilder Kalien of being a child molester in revenge
for a debt owed. Now, who's going to believe that? And, it's way out of
line for a lawful good church to deface someone's character for revenge.
This lowers the esteem of the church in the eyes of the populace, leading
to a decrease in the church's influence. Ergo, a loss of regency.

I realize this kinda breaks down when using regency for realm spells, but
that could be some kind of magical thingummy that defies explanation. I
like those!

I use regency as a form of public confidence- The public believing that the
ruler
can make good on promises or/and threats.

If you lose regency to another character. The public starts believing that
the other
might be a better ruler.

I've allways treated it as the measure of political influence (or in the
case of Realm Spells, the amount of power that can be drawn from the
faithfull or from the land).
