Greetings,
I know all earlier this week I bugged everyone with one of my adventure
ideas, but I've been kicking this one around for some time. Since BR reminds
me of the Arthurian legends I want to have my PCs go on a holy quest seeking
the "Grail". For the purpose of BR the Grail is a chalice that has been
imbued with power from the god Haelyn. Just after his acension he returned
to his people, lifting a silver chalice above his head he spoke, "Let all
who partake of this wine, know the fruits of my blessing!" With that he
drank from the chalice, and vanished. For many years the Grail was kept in
the High Temple of Haelyn. Its powers used to heal the sick, and grant boons
to those loyal to Haelyn. During a riot the church was assailed, and a large
portion of it burned. During the commotion someone made of with the Grail.
The adventure starts when the PCs learn of a clue that could lead them to
the Grail, and one step closer to the Iron Throne.

At the moment I have little more then an idea here for an adventure. I would
like to create a series of encounters, puzzles, and tasks, that the PCs will
need to overcome before reaching the Grail. I'm hoping that someone may have
some ideas on what these obstacles should be. I want to base them on actual
tests faced by Arthur, and his Knights as they quested for the Holy Grail.
Any ideas that could be worked into BR, be they from "fact", or fiction,
would be very appreciated. BTW, I know this post borders on bad taste. It
was never my intention to cause anyone distress. Please do not be offended.

Instead of a Grail you could have the PC's search out and locate the missing
gems of the Imperial Crown of Anuire and the State Crown of Anuire. They
were stolen and believed to be the reason that Michael Roele lost to the
Gorgon. Another possiblity would be for them to look for the Sword of
Anduiras, for it could have been blown to some distant land when the old
gods died.

Greetings,
I think I have to agree with the feedback I've been getting. The actual
object of my PCs grand quest could be many things, aside from the item I
conjured. I'm going to keep dwelling on this for a while, but I want to work
on other ideas before I do this one. So I will keep all the advice I got,
and see if anything gives me that final inspiration. Prehaps I should reread
some of the classics. Well thanks for the input.

On another note, it appears our own "Grail" quest has come to a happy end.
Our "Grail" being one of our favorite TSR employees, Mr. Rich Baker. I want
to say hello to him, and thanks for joining us. I know I speak for everyone
when I say that we really apprieciate your time, and effort. We know your a
very busy man, and the fact that you have decided to offer your personal
input to this List, is something we will be hard pressed to repay. Once
again thanks for your trouble, and we're glad to have you aboard.

You may want to consider making the object of the quest something other
than the Grail, TSR put out a module for their Mystara Line called HAIL
THE HEROES in which the party had to search for the lost shrine
containing the SHIELD OF HALAV ( a Traladaran Deity ).
I adapted this module to Birthright for My Party Substituting the Shield
of Halav with the SHIELD OF HAELY - a kite shield that Haelyn bore at
the battle of Deismaar that absorbed some of the Godpower releasesd
there. The existing powers of the Shield needed little modification for
use in the Birthright Setting and the shield itself can be a potent
symbol for anyone trying to reunify the Empire ( as the PC that
currently holds it is attempting to do ).
Hope this can give you some ideas.
