'lo all,
This is my first post, although I have been on the list for about a month.
Anyway, onto the question.
In the main book of the "Cities of the Sun" supplement, on page 11, under
'wizards', the last Oath states...
"To destroy any wielder of true magic that does not
abide by these Oaths."
I am just starting a solo campaign with my fiancee and she elected to play
a Khinasi mage (her character is Blooded). After reading that, she asked
my exactly what '...any wielder...' encompassed. I was at a loss.
Basically, I can apply 'any wielder' to mean;
(A)'any wielder' of Khinasi origin..
...OR...
(B)'any wielder' in the world.
Now, if it is (B), why isn't every Khinasi (regent and otherwise) in a
deperate battle to destroy EVERY magic-user on Cerilia? (How could they
possibly 'put up' with all the MU'ing awnsheghlien around----the Serpent,
the Lamia, let alone the Magian!). How would a Khinasi wizard expect to
survive outside of Khinasi? The first wizard they met they would try to
destroy (and in order to be a wielder of true magic, that wizard would have
to be blooded). Any wizard would know about the khinasi wizards fanatical
devtion to the Oath, and would take steps to eliminate the khinasi MU befor
he himself could be harmed.
Personally, I am going to probably say that either the Oath only applies
to other Khinasi wizards and/or only while in Khinasi.
Anyone else ever come accross this? How did you (or your DM) handle this?
