Hey all.
I'm just about to start running an elven campaign.
Has anyone done this before? Most of the players
are going to play human-hating warrior-types and
the domain sourcebook for Tuariheval seems to be
orientated towards those playing elves favourably
inclined to humans.
I'm interested in getting into touch with anyone
who has run a similar campaign. Has anybody
done it?

I'm sorry but I can't help you that much, I've never run an Elven
campaign. However, I do have some comments about the Tuarhievel
source book- I really didn't like what the authors did to
Tuarhievel. SPOILER ALERT. One of the last Elven realms, and they
go and make it be ruled by a human who is going to hand it over
to a half-elf!!!!! This really struck a sour note for me. I
really liked Tuarhievel and was excited when I found the book,
but this pretty much ruined it for me. Why couldn't have the
authors done what was done for the Roesone sourcebook: write it
as your the new regent who's parent has just died and is
overviewing the realm? Why change what was otherwise such a great
domain. Did anyone else have problems with the Tuarhieval
Player's Secrets or is it just me. I liked the overview, but its
so oriented towards the current politics that it really makes it
hard to use alot of it without going through some major rewrites
in areas. Lots of time is spent dealing with the situation
presented in the guide when it seems to me most rulers would want
to elves ruling an elven realm, and so would have different
problems. Thoughts, comments (flames)?

I agree with your comments totally. Quite frankly the domain
sourcebook completely negates the Ruins of Empire description.
A land of contradiction. A ruler who holds court with both
humans and fanatic killers. Not any more!
Now the ruler is completely pro-human and the fanatics have
been relegated to positions of NO power. I'm going to make
Savanna involved in a secret plot with the Gorgon to remove
Fhil. and place herself on the throne.
Her child is actually child of the Gorgon? Ergh. Random thoughts
keep slipping in. I want to keep Tara because I think she is very cool.
I cannot see anyone dying to play a human ruling one of the only three
elven domains in Anuire. They should have left an accounting of the
domain's ownings followed by a description of the politics.
I think the politics should have been left murky so that players could
choose to play human-hating or human-loving characters. A LOT of
revision is needed to play a character coming from the human-hating
region.
God, just typing what was meant to be an agreement (and branched
off briefly into plot) really gets my creative juices flowing. I'm
going off to work on some ideas now.
Basically I just wanted to say that I agreed :)

It's not just you; from my experiences with other "Player's Secrets of..."
titles, I didn't think I would like it, so I didn't buy it. The Tuarhieval
book has come up before, quite a while back, and the discontent was pretty
overwhelming then.
