When you are running install, try NOT allowing it to "check if your
system meets are requirements."
It wasn't able to detect on W98, but if I skipped that step
and just installed it anyway it ran ... with occasional crashes, on my
W98 for the last almost a year.

My question, though, is there somewhere that the latest patch is available for downloading? I have no idea as to this, and any assistance provided would be appreciated. Thank You.

The latest patch is available from the following site.
http://www.gamesdomain.com/patches/brwin104.html

That should fix up any problems, but if it doesn't let me know and I'll
see if I can't help you out.

This seems to have worked. Strange, but that looks to be good advice,
as I was able to install it. Thanks for your help.

I finally figured out how to download the patch you mention (I thought
the url on the webpage was just that, and not a link as well). Quite
computer ignorant here. After downloading the patch successfully, I moved
the file to the sierra birthright folder. I have norton systemworks 2.0, and
expanded the patch in that folder, but nothing else happened. Did I screw up
in some way? How can I tell if the patch has been implemented? My
appreciation is immense for your assistance, for I thought I had purchased a
game I could not use. Thank You.
To keep this somewhat br related, does anyone use this for assistance
in running any type of br game? Just curious.

If the patch worked there should be changes to the readme file in the
Birthright foldier, and of course the game is changed in places,
although they never did get around to fixing up the bug with the Legion
of Dead spell...

It could be used, although it is limited to Anuire and the standard
units and doesn't allow for naval vessels and the like.
