I hate to ask this for fear of being shot down, but... How much of Michael's
power did the Gorgon get? He was not technically the last of his line, as he
still had two or three sisters living at the time. Or were they also killed
via the Gorgon's machinations?

The Gorgon didn't get any bloodpoints from Michael Roele because he managed
to transfere his bloodpoints to the earth right before the Gorgon managed
to commit bloodtheft. I think there are still several persons with the
Roele bloodline, but the bloodline has probably been tainted in the course
of time. If you're interested in the battle between The Gorgon and Michael
Roele I would recomend th birthright novel The Iron Throne.

I believe he had several sisters, allof whom got married off to a duke of one
of the Twelve Duchies. Which makes the claims of Boruine and Avan about the
Iron Throne legitimate. Technically, the both have Roele blood in them,
although diluted (IMO, Roeles were in the100+ range). I'd also have to say the
the regents of Alamie, Mhoried, Diemed, Aerenwe, and/or the decendents of the
two regents who ruled what is now Ghoere also also have Roele blood (I forget
how many sisters there were, but I think six). Therefore, Tournen's regent also
has Roele blood (Flaertes is Carilon Alam's something ith cousin). So
technically, most of the regents in Anuire can claim what Boruine and Avan do.
Wether or not these sisters were killed I do not know.

How much blood power did the Gorgon get? Well there are a few theries:

1) Roele Grounded his power and the Gorgon gained none
2) Roele was in the prosses of grounding his power and when the Gorgon commited
bloodtheft (or tried to), the sword worked in reverse, pulling some of the
Gorgon's strength into the grounding as well, thus tainting it.
3) Roele grounded his power in Battlewait but the Gorgon can acess it as his
own, so long as he is in the fortress;.
4) Bloodtheft was commited with one of those thimaevril weapons and Roele lost
1/2 his bloodline strength to the Gorgon. His domain went uncontrolled and his
heirs gained no RP, thus creating the havok after his death.

My personal favorite it a combo of 2 and 4. The thimaevril did sever the tie
between land and king, but it did not give the Gorgon a chance to gain any
power, he actually lost some. This also explains why no one has come to claim
his grounded power, because it is tainted by the Gorgon. There's a little
indiscrpency though. Ruins of Empire says Roele met and fought the Gorgon in
Battlewait, and he came alone. The Iron Throne says that Roele came up with his
whole army, marched pass Vosgaard (I think Simon Hawke meant to say Rjurik) and
turned south into the Gorgon's Crown. The armies of good and evil met in a pass
within sight of Battlewaite. Roele and the Gorgon fought twords each other, and
the were soon engaged in combat. Roele got knocked off his horse and the Gorgon
made an attempt at bloodtheft. He missed and severed Roele's arm. Roele dug
his hand into the ground and grounded his power just as the Gorgon impaled him
through the back with his thimaevril weapon. So as you can see, there's quite a
diffrence in the stories of Roele's death, but I prefer the Iron Throne's
approch (which is a good book and if you're on this list you'd better have read
it).

In fact the the Gorgon is so ticked about Roele 'grounding' that he cuts
Michael in half. No bloodtheft. Boerne (-sp?) is a descendant of the
Roele line. Not sure about any others.

Michael (at least in my campaign) was able to successfully down all his
bloodline into the earth, theus leaving the Gorgon with nothing...I
believe the "official" version says he grounded "most" of his
power..probably giving the Gorgon a whopping 1 BP.

Do you mean, bloodline strength, or something else? According to the
book (Iron Throne), there was no bloodtheft, instead Michael did this neat
little grounding thing so his bloodline went into the land around
Battlewaite.

Nice list of whose got the tainted remnants of the Reole Line, but you
forgot one. Queen Lillien Swordwraith of Aerenwe. On the southern coast
she has the strongest traces, but has no interest in an Empire. I ran with
that in a short lived campaign where Swordwraith and Duke Roesone married
15 years before the "today's date" in the books (541 MR, right?), but both
were killed, and the combined realm fractured and divided amongst the
Council of Regents, all dukes and barons and such aligned under the Lord
High Chamberlain Isselvere, Regent of Calrie, who guarded the throne for the
couple's heir, Prince Daen Roesone II. Both NPCs. All the PCs were vassals
to the Chamberlain, and it was the first year of the new prince's lordship.
With his ties to the throne the PCs intended on installing him as a puppet
Emperor and reaping the rewards. Too bad the game didn't last.

In the campaign I am presently running I have turned a slightly different
twist of fate for Michael Reole. Michael did successfully ground his power,
burying it deep into the ground near Kal-Saitherak, (ala "Iron Throne") but
there is indeed an heir, just not Michael's.

His grandfather, a much wiser man than Michael's father, hid away his
youngest child, entrusting him to the care of a dear friend (much the same
as the fabled story of Louis XV (?) and his brother Phillip - Man in the
Iron Mask - only not so grim) The child was enchanted with great spells by
the Master of the College of Sorcery, another close friend. All records
were removed, and the forgotten uncle of Michael Reole grew up completely
unaware of his bloodline.

In essence, the magic of the line was partially removed (I have to make a
new spell) leaving enough of the line to trigger the other half of the
spell. When the true heir touches the stone encasing the Reole Blood, all
the power of that line will be instantly transferred to his own.

Thus the line is safe, until such time as a proper heir discovers his
heritage. That heir, IMC, is one of my PCs watched over by Haelyn and the
spirit of Michael. They speak to him on occasion through a medium, another
PC, but neither is really aware of what is going on.

I'm toying with having the Blood Stone guarded by a dragon somewhere in the
Silverhead Mountains, or perhaps deep in the Drachanaurs, but I am not sure
yet.

Of course, the other option in your games if you don't like this is to
simply let a player think he has a portion of the bloodline, and let the
games begin.

Some stuff to remember about the word bloodline. When the books talk about
the line being diluted, I do not believe that it really refers to the
Bloodline Strength of the character in question, rather there has been so
much interbreeding since a given point that the original line has become
over-run, and no one of the Reole line has contributed to the blue blood for
over 500 years. Parts of the line are hard to trace, and when you consider
that the Fall of the Empire caused a great deal of records to be lost, who
can say just who has what blood.

My Birthright True Roele Line Yarn aka Story aka Encounter

Once I had PC... a bard (no time to rule only to play and have fun : ) ). Now
he had rolled a great bloodline....though he rolled a small strength. We had
played for about four years game time before the bard came in. In those four
years the landed Regent came upon an artifact in an ancient ruined fortress on
the island of Barhegas. Now this Artifact did nothing for the landed regent,
so he put it in his horde for safe keeping as if was a status symbol. On the
first adveture the Bard saved the Landed regents life, big time... so the
player granted him this artifact. After using it a couple of times to the
amazement of the group, the Bard soon began to take on a few bloodtrait
features. So then about 3 game yearts later, they were in the court of the
Chamberlain when he saw that the Bard was infact a true bloodline descendant
of Roele andthe artifact had brought out that fact! This created turmoil in
the world. The landed regent tried to back him for the throne, so did many of
the other regents. The bard protested and fled. It created a great schismim
as the Regents in the party tried to capture the bard, and the unblooded and
non-regents helped him escape. It was a lot of work, and ended in the Bard's
group fleeing to Khinasi, and the players had to create new characters. I know
this sounds a bit wierd but we were all pumped full of the Role-play not roll-
play philosophy and had decided to go overdrive in RPing. I got to tell yall,
but that was a lot of fun. I had never done spilt groups for more then a
little bit of an adventure, and if worked out great with a big fight sceene
were a few of the PCs killed each other (PCs vs PCs No mercy!).

So that is how I used the Roeles to stir up a campaign. I had no idea that
they would break into factions, but I guess that is why players can always
surprise you!

I've semi-scripted the poor sodding fool's unveiling to the Iron Throne.
The player is starting to have an inkling that something is up. The group
is presently adventuring in the Giantdowns, and being involved in some nasty
stuff. They are convinced that the White Witch is searching for a powerful
artifact, which she is, but its not what they think, nor what she thinks.

In their journey they have linked up by accidend with the Black
Princess (i've posted this before), and she has revealed how much the one
with the powerful bloodline looks so much like Raesene in his days before
Diesmaar, before the Blood.

They will unwittingly release a member of the Lost (Atar - the First),
ushering in the End of the World according to one prophecy they are trying
to decipher (at odds with two other prophecies - so fun)

When the Reole line comes forth and they go to claim the throne, so that
they may unite the lands of Cerilia against Aduria's forthcoming invasion, I
immediately plane to have Gavin Taele of Ghoere throw in publicly and
openly, while Boeruine and Avan bicker and mutter and protest. He plans to
take advantage and create a puppet under the control of his pet wizard, or
at least get enough ties so that he can lay claim to the new Empire when the
good Emperor up and dies.

Still, the Emperor must first prove his leadership by becoming the Kind of
Dead Giants (Giantdowns), the Thief of Life's Bargains (to steal Prince
Fhillarene of Tuarhievel back from the Gorgon), and the Bringer of Doom (the
sword he will eventually wield is translated from Adurian as Evil's Demise,
or the Blade of Evil's Doom - poor prophet got mixed up I guess)

Later all!
