Has anyone out there run King of the Giantdowns?

If you have, I would like some insight from your own experiences with the
area and the characters therein.

Thanks!

well, I'm currently in the middle of running a Giantdowns campaign that's
been running for about 6 months real time now. I started the characters out as
non-regents that had just come into the area and made them earn everyone's
trust. Now that they have everyone's trust they have begun setting up domains
in the two western-most provances.
As a setting, I think the Giantdowns is great. My only problem was that I
tried ta use everything from the book. This really gives you TOO much to do. I
mean, the players have to deal with the white witches troops in the one
provance, Ghuralli's forces to the north, the bloodskull barrony's troops in
the northwest, the raider tribe of Rjuriks (the Karhoelle) and Aneikee's
traitorous twin sons. Not to mention that the area's boarders consist of two
elven realms and THE GORGON!
Believe me, your players will not want for things to do in the area.
If ya want any more specifics, let me know...

Thanks! You just summed up my entire design philosophy behind KotGD. I'm
really glad you've been able to play it for so long and that the characters
have "too much to do." That was the plan. ;-)

Good ol' Blastin. You can always rely on him to be true to the original tone
of BR. KotG is pretty "low fantasy" in many respects- even moreso than I often
run IMC *gasp*. Take a look at the "monsters" chart. Many creatures that are
meat-and-potatos or even ho-hum in most game worlds are only legends or rumors
in KotG. Mr. Stark leaves it pretty wide open however; so you can up the
creature/power level if you want. As an aside, this "DM's option" is Ted's
great contribution to BR. Interesting, detailed material that still leaves
plenty of room for individual interpretation (also known as DM tinkering).

Maybe since TSR staffers don't have to run the logistics of GenCon this year,
Blastin and a few others can impose on Ed or Carrie to have some fun- if they're
not too busy with that Alternity thingy.

No, I thought of it as a compliment!

Very, very cool.
