Nobody here will have heard of me and believe it or not, I've never
played in a Birthright campaign. My DM insists that he won't play in
Birhtright because he doesn't particulary like it. Any ideas on how
to 'convert' him?

Anyway, to the point of this message: I have a slight concern with the
module "Warlock of the Stonecrowns."

My problem arises from the sheer number of magical items possesed by
the Warlock. I know that he is an Awnshegh and all, but still I find
his number of magical items (and his derived armour class!) excessive
for the 'low magic' Birthright Setting.

Some will argue that he has had a long time to accumulate such a
cache of magical might. There are numerous lines of Wizard
regents across the continent (who are described in the various Players
Secrets supplements) who don't even come close to such large magical
item inventories.

Does anybody else have thoughts on this matter?

The published modules are ok, in the information/ideas they give, but they
suffer from the same Monty Haul defect that most TSR modules have (though
not nearly to the extent of some other, well-forgotten, campaign worlds I
could mention: don't get me started. . .)
If you think there are too many magic items in his possession, then
eliminate or reduce the power of some (yes, this is the standard cop-out
answer to such problems, but it is effective).
I'd say I agreed with you, but I'm busy cataloging my magic items right
now, and creating a index file for which treasure room and bin they are
stored in.
I'm up to Treasure Room D, Bin #43D: items relating to the summoning and
control of Elementals.

Well, he is the son of the Gorgon, which tends to hold a lot of sway over
the humanoid tribes he rules. Chances are he has looted their caches and
supplies to obtain for himself. Plus, as you said, he's had a long time
to collect items. Since he has always been paranoid about his father
(with excellent cause!), he more than likely traded less useful items for
more powerful ones as he got older.

Not to mention, I think the author usually writes for Forgotten Realms.
