Since I didn't get any answers the first time, I'm going to repost my previous
post:

A question came up recently in one of our campaigns: If you have a spell that
is effectively a Vampiric Touch for metallic blades, what would happen if you
kill a scion by piercing through the heart? Also, what woudl happen if used on
a tighmaevril blade?

This is the famous +5 Vorpal Special Silver Sword of Vampirism (which is
intelligent and has the Special Purpose of Kill Blooded Scions, and the
Special Purpose Power of having the same effect as a tighmaevril weapon,
and always striking the heart on the killing blow; but being Vorpal also)?
IMO, such a weapon would become blooded itself, it would then become it's
own Regent, it's bloodline would automatically switch to Azrai despite
previous derivation, and it would be an Awensheignlien under the control of
the DM.

Remember that "blooded" characters don't actually have the power in their
physical blood. They don't "bleed" out their divine right. It's more of a
metaphor for the power in their bodies.

Bear in mind that this is just an opinion but, I think some people on the
list are taking the term "blood" a little too literally. I draw your
attention to a post from Eric Mukogawa where he writes,

> "I always considered that the bloodline strength and dispersion of the
divine blood was divine energy, not real > blood. When the gods were
destroyed, their energies were released into the individuals who were
around,
> especially the champions which were probably in close proximity to the
gods themselves. It is the divine energy > passed down through the
bloodlines, not physical blood of the gods themselves."

I feel Eric has hit the nail on the head with this.

There was a series of posts a few months back dealing with vampires &
undead and there effect on the "Blooded".
I don't think spells like Vampiric Touch or even vampires (THE Vampire
being an exception) should be any scarier than they already are to Scion
and Commoner alike. There are a whole host of BR specific spells that deal
with "blood". Just because something drinks blood (physically) does not
mean it should be able to draw the divine essence from somebody. What about
a stirge or a mosquito? Ok. I know that is a little silly. Vampires and
spell effects are in a completely different category but where do we draw
the line?
In Summary: The term "blood" is just that... a term. They could have just
as easily called it something else

I think that in either case the spell would work as it is supposed to with
no additional effects not already caused by the metal. i.e. you would not
gain additional bloodline strength with the base metal blade, just the
rolled number of HPs. The tighmaevril blade would funcion normally with
the added benefit of gaining HPs as well.

There would be no change to the bloodtheft rules, since Vampiric Touch
works on hp, not bloodlines.
