However much you have, you can always spend more. IRL, vast treasuries
accumulated over decades have been squandered on festivals, hippodrome
games, gifts to worthless courtiers, etc in a tenth the time it took to
accumulate it all.
Think of the Roman Games, which at certain times got so extravigant that
it seemd the resources of the entire empire were being dedicated to amusing
the locals (and the devil take the rest of the realm). Or take Basil II
Bulgarnoctonos and his worthless successor/Brother, Michael the Drunkard.
Basil II ruled for 50 years and accumulated a treasury in excess of 250,000
Lbs of Gold (or nearly 2,000,000 GP, 10,000 GB). Michael the Drunkard ruled
for 3 years and by the end of his reign the treasury was empty, and soon
after, for the first time in over 7 centuries, the Nomismata (midieval GP)
was debased.
So you can easily spend 100GB and so long as no one spends more your
festival will be the most lavish in recient memory. But someone can
*always* find a way to find people who will take whatever largess you, or
they, are willing to give.
Just be sure the Turks aren't about to come knocking on the gates. . .
