Here is Fiftyone's latest version of The Spider.

There is also a file attached that addresses how to 'build' an awnshegh using the UA bloodline system as a guide. Modifications are in the document.

The files are zipped Word documents.

cool stuff. I like the spider, very cool to give him those rogue abilties. Tho personally, I would saw him as a higher level character, hes still an epic character which is definately fitting for him.

Wondering though if it makes sense to lower the Awnshegh's bluff for every awnshegh level the character gains, as the character is becoming less human (or whatever its base race is) and thus making it more difficult to sense the characters motive... though if was done because it was needed for balance then, maybe follow the elves version of infamous reputation and decrease diplomacy and gather information while increasing Intimidate.

I think its excellent. One question, shouldn't the spider have 2 epic feats, for levels 21 and 24?

The intimidate/bluff & diplomacy check thing was based on the abrasive trait from UA and was chosen to reflect the transformation that the awnshegh is undergoing and the aura of evil that is starting to exude from it.

The elves' version could be changed to match the abrasive trait skill set if people think it fits better.

Positive Feedback! weeeeeeeeeee

The epic feats are optional. Normal feats can be selected instead and so I did. In that conversion of rhuobhe manslayer i did he only had one epic feat out of a possible 5. I'll redo that one at a later date ^_^

Gonna work on High Mage Aelies ver2 now.

I like the writeup quite alot as well. If we are starting to use Epic levels, I wonder if we are going to be doing anything with the rumour that the Chamberlain is really the first Chamberlain of Anuire, and has Epic levels...

We could have him adopting a new persona every 30 years or so... give him Long Life (Great) and a variant on the Hat of Disguise, and voila!

big question is: Would Dosiere in that hypothetical case have any levels of Noble, or would he split his given levels of fighter with some Noble levels if he's been around as long at 1500 years?

I've always preferred Dosiere to be a magician instead of a wizard. The illusion/divination focus seemed a better fit for him, IMO. If that is the tact taken then disguising is almost of second nature to him.

Well, yes, this is a very nice version of the Spider. I especially like the DR being added, as well as rogue abilites and pounce/ rake/ powerful charge.

The abilities aren't as high as I liked to see them, but their're O.K. The poison damage is the same as for the phase spider, but str damage (good choice for a hunting spider).

To sum it up: Great :D

I did not completely understand the bloodline list listed at the end of the spider description. Is it just for information or to weak the spider based on campagne?

That was to show the build based on the other file attached - the awnshegh using UA bloodlines type of format.

Examples generally work real well in this type of thing, especially for those that want to build their own ansheghlien.

Just curious are you going to be making an ehrsheghlien class also? Figured it would basically be the same just changing the +2 intimidate and -2 diplomacy/bluff for each level in the class.

You don't really need to put in the Level Adj. for the awnshegh class as its the same as the level in the class.

I was thinking about it for the ersheghlien, they need a little adjusting because they are not the same as the awnsheglien. Ershegh transformation is voluntary while awnshegh transformation is not and in general they are not quite as powerful.

The level adjustment for awnshegh was in addition to the class level. This is because the abilities gained by their transformation causes a greater effect than a class level. The UA system used the bloodline class as a means of balancing the level adjustment being gained as the recipient gained character levels, the amount and type of increases that an awnsheglien gains per character level are greater than the UA version hence a greater net level adjustment.

The acid test question to see if this system works is to look at the Spider as worked up and say does the CR look about right? If so then the mechanic works, at least in this case.
