Howdy all...Seeing some of the ideas for magical items, I have decided to
post one that is currently active in my campaign...let me know what ya
think...
Bloodtooth:
Bloodtooth is an interesting relic that was discovered by an adventurer
campaigning in ancient elven ruins located deep within the dark
Aelevenwode (spelling ?), within the domain of Talinie. A warrior, Jacob
Darkkien, a 5th level fighter of Haelyn, happened upon the forgotten elven
town by accident. Climbing to retrieve fruit from one of the trees, he saw
an ancient bridge that had forstood the test of time. Curiously, he made
his way onto the bridge and after searching the town ruins, he discovered
and old, extremely well made shortsword that gleamed of a strange metal.
After polishing it up, he discovered that the metal was unlike any he had
ever seen. He decided to take it into the city of Lindholme, Talinie and
find out it's worth. The shop keeper, upon seeing the strange weapon, just
snorted and told the warrior it was worthless and would give him just a
single gold coin for it. Jacob, thinking it was worth more, refused and
left. He decided to try his luck in Bouerine. However, as he made his way
for the border, a hired assassian intercepted the poor warrior, slew him
and took the weapon. It is now in the hands of a notorious killer, who
decided to keep the weapon and not return it to the shop keeper who hired
his services. He found it's true powers after he slew one of the blood.
He had bloodthefted before, however, the power infused within him using
this weapon nearly knocked him unconcious with an unexepected burst of
power. The assassian in now on the prow of all the blooded.
Bloodtooth
+2 1/2 tighmaevral shortsword
It appears to be an extremely well made shortsword. It's blade is very
curious, as it swirls with tighmaevral and steel. It is normal shortsword
length and has a standard cast hilt made of steel. It is very light and
agile, but its blade dices flesh like vegetables. If Bloodtooth is used
during the killing blow of a bloodtheft, then it's wielder gains the
normal bloodtheft bonuses, plus an additional 1-10 points of bloodline.
The half tighmaevril content of the sword isn't strong enough to cut the
ties of the regent (if the bloodthefted person was a
regent) with his/her domain, however. Three times per day, Bloodtooth may
also detect for any blooded persons within 100'. This lasts for just a
single round, during which the wielder must concentrate. The DM can also
use other boons as well, like a 25% chance to drain a power from the person
or maybe a higher percentage of the RP's gained. I currently have
Bloodtooth giving the bloodthefting regent 50% of the victims RP pool, if
any.
Thoughts, comments?
