Is there any guidelines how fast ruling regents should be converting
regency points into blood strength? At present my players are
converting once every 8 domain turns and are complaining this is not
fast enough. ( In their heart of hearts they want to kick the Gorgons
ass) There present windge is that the Guilders and the Temples seem to
want to dispossess them at every turn and are spending regency left,
right and centre.
The rate of adventure is such that the levels are going up at
about half the speed the blood strength points are.

Check out the Birthright rulebook, page 37, for the rule on using regency
points to raise bloodline strength. Here it says that the conversion can
be done at any time, but that Bloodline strength can only be raised by 1
point each domain turn.

In my camapign, I have only had 1 character have the available regency to
increase his bloodline. There are just too many outside pressures for them
to have enough regency left over to do something like this. I try to keep
it this way for two reasons: 1) If they have enough regency left over
after 8 turns, I feel they really aren't being challenged as rulers.
Regency is hard to come by and harder to hold on to in the cut-throat
world of Anuriean politics. 2) Bloodline seems to be a much greater
prize than experience points. Te characters should really have to work to
increase theirs. I have had a few occasions where the PCs increase their
bloodline through bloodtheft, and 1 though investiture, but all in all it
is a pretty rare occurrence in my game.

That doesn't sound too fast to me. that's a point every two years,
remember, and if every regent could manage that, bloodline strength would
be measured in the hundreds, instead of the 10s. As PCs they're supposed to
be "above the norm," though, so this might be an appropriate rate of
advancement. But they shouldn't complain. . .If they keep it up, find new
ways for them to spend *more* regency points, and slow 'em down to the rate
of NPCs. Depending on the kind of campaign you and your players like, the
level advancement doesn't sound bad, either (one level every 4 years/16
turns if I read that right. IMO, that's kind of slow, depending on their
level. I.E. low level dudes might advance faster, but if they're already up
around 9th or so, then they should count themselves happy to go that fast,
probably). Again, depends on the kind of campaign you and your players
like, though.

Birthright: The Gorgon's Alliance.

I enjoy the game a lot. If you know the BR system, it's very easy to just
dive right in and start playing, IMO. If you don't, then it's much harder.
Anyhow, though, at this point I might advise you to wait till BR Deluxe
comes out. It will have a lot more new features (including ones that will
come in handy if you DM a campaign in Anuire), and a much better manual,
and it should be out in a mo. or two. Both games are reasonably priced, and
I think you'll get more than your money's worth from it.

"The town was called Eberacum until the ninth century until it was razed by
the
Vikings and renamed Yorvik."

Harding is right about this. I've got Eberacum on my maps of the E. and
everything.

Geez! This was actually put in, IMO, as an option we really didn't think
people would be doing on a regular basis. I'm really not sure I'd be
comfortable letting a player character bump his or her bloodline every two
years (8 domain turns). It's up to you, of course, but I'd try putting in
MORE problems they'd have to use RP to solve (well, part of the solution,
anyway).

Too much RP on their hands ...
