A perfect subject to go in a "Book of Bardcraft". Sorry for pushing on
this, but Bards need more coverage in BR, at least IMHO.

I think that would be a great idea.

A Book of Bardcraft is a must I think, much more necessary than a
Lawcraft or Guildcraft book. I just finished reading Taliesin,
by Steven R. Lawrence, which covers the early Arthurian legends
(although I previously hadn't heard of him in anything except
Welsh history), and it presents an interesting view of how
a bard may be used. Especially since I see many relationships
between Birthright and Arthurian Legend.

Greetings from a lurker,

I agree that Bards are an important class in BR but I think that a book
written strictly for bards is a little too specific. The list has
talked of a Book of Law and a Book of Guilds and Book of this and that.
Personally, I think that if a Book of Whatever is released it should be
general enough to encompass several aspects of BR. The Book of
Magecraft covered one class but also covered magic of Aebrynnis. I
assume that the Book of Priestcraft will cover the priest class and also
the effect of priests in the overall scheme of things. Again, if a Book
of Whatever is released, I think it should be a general topic (like Book
of Guilds and Law) instead of a book for each specific class.

I agree with Sir Spud that, while bards are interesting, a Book of Bardcraft
would be a lot to devote to them. Perhaps a Book of Rogues/Guildholdings could
be published. This could cover bards, thieves, guilders, and general info. on
Guilds in Cerilia. A companion to this could be a Book of
Warriors/Lawholdings.

A Book of Bardcaft would also cover the reactions of different cultures =
to bards. For instance, the difference between the way the Brecht treat =
bards and the way
Khinasi treat bards.

While I like bards very much myself (and have been making notes on bards in
BR for quite some time), don't you think they could fit into, say, a
GUILDCRAFT book? I mean, BoM covered all kinds of wizards and magicians,
and BoP will cover priests of all types--couldn't a "Book of Guildcraft"
cover all rogues--thieves, bards, guilders, and the like?

Now that I stop and think, a guildcraft book that actually
encompasses bards on a nearly equal level would be great.
I guess my previous comment was written in haste without
really thinking about it. My players seemed to look right
over the bard, even though I think that it could be one
of the greatest classes in Cerilia. Rangers also could use
some coverage, possibly a la Aragorn...
I'll try and remember to think before engaging my fingers
next time...

That's a better idea than a book solely devoted to bards. This book
could expand and clarify trading rules (such as whether you need a
guild at each end of a trade route), rules for runnig spy
networks and covert operations etc in addition to class-related info.
Another nice thing would be a BOOK OF WARCRAFT (oops, no plaguerism
intended...). Basically, this could be a book for the landed regents
and fighters (which is, at least in Anuire, often the same). It could
contain information on fighters, sieges rules that *work*, and most
important, how to give landed rulers a break against the guilds.

I say YES!!! A book of Guildcraft sounds like something I would love to
get into. What a great idea Ed!! Talking with you has always been a
pleasure (several of the big Cons) and your devotion to BR can only help
fuel the rest of us on our quest to make it fun and entertaining for all
involved! Thanks!

No rebuke was intended, Mike; I was asking the question seriously. While I
believe bards could be given enough attention in a "Book of
Guildcraft"-style supplement, that doesn't mean I'm right. I just wanted to
know how you (and everybody else) felt about the possibility.
Besides, if I waited to think before typing my responses, I'd never get a
chance to type anything at all! ;-)
