Both "The Falcon and the Wolf" and "The Shadow Stone" were cancelled, along
with any other Birthright novels planned for 1997. This was a decision made
by higher powers, and while I personally didn't care for the way things
fell out (both books were completely finished, edited, and ready to go to
the printer) it's a very tough market out there these days, and we couldn't
sell the books to the people who were going to sell them to you, the
audience. We're continuing to look at this situation and hope to find a
way to get these books out into the public eye at some point in the future.
Thanks for your patience, and I'm very sorry that we couldn't bring these
books to you. Stick around--maybe things will change.

Ahh, no wonder the Bookstore people give me funny looks when I ask about
them.
But, it upsets me that you guys would make official releases offering
those books, and never carry them through.
Anything else that we've been promised that we should stop looking for?
I'm not trying to anger anyone, just want to know what we can count on.

You have every right to be upset. The very reason we don't talk in
specifics about products before the catalog comes out is to avoid this
situation. Unfortunately, with the tumultuous times we went through this
year (and the end of last), we let down even THAT promise. To the best of
my knowledge, no other BR products were cancelled or changed--everything
else in the catalog for 1997 is coming out.
We're planning on returning to our old reliability. It was always TSR's
policy not to cancel any product we put in our catalog, and that's
TSR/Wizards policy as well. The new catalog should be out in November, and
what's in it WILL come out.
If it doesn't, they'll come looking for me ... ;-)

Ed,
I, for one, would like to see an adventure based on the *Falcon and the W=
olf.*
I'd think it be really cool to see that, to actually see an Adventure tha=
t
floated around a novel's plot. There hasn't been something like that sin=
ce
Dragonlance and the "Dragons of Mystery" adventure series where the playe=
rs
played around the Dragonlance Chronicle novels.
Something to think about.
