If I have a unit of Breght infantry can I charge?

Basically if they can then they can do damage to an enemyunit and possibly destroy it before that unit can act.

Only units with a charge rating can attack during the "resolve charge

attacks" phase. Your Brecht infantry can move into battle at a run, but the

attack will be resolved during the melee attack phase.

Presumably an upgrade "feat" for units would be giving them a charge rating

(which for most units would be their melee rating), but also a "resist

charge" feat which prevents the use of the charge rating or the charge

attack phase. Pikeman units are often eligable for such a feat.

Basically a war-academy/[whatever] would be more suitable to replicate such effects, and such units should cost more due to extra training.

Charge units should include cavalry and infantry units. Infantry units with charge should mostly be equipped with suitable weapons. If you want to be a little more accurate with your campaign, give greatsword units (yes, there were whole units wielding greatswords) a reach rating as well. The same applies to any two handed weapon that is not wielded from near the middle - while you use a greatsword by handling it from the hilt and, sometimes, the lower, unsharped blade, a scythe is wielded from two handles or grips along the length of it, and thus should have no reach.
Pikemen and generally units with reach weaponry were the best to fend off a charge. No extra ruling should be given here, just that they can deal an attack of opportunity due to reach as the others attack and, if they are smart enough to have readied their weapons, deal extra damage against a charge (the extra damage should apply only on polearms, since the extra damage is based on the fact that you can set a polearm against a charge by bracing your foot on the ground, placing the lower end of the weapons haft against your foot, then put the other foot forward for balance).
Ranged units should be able to fend off a charge by standing still and firing a volley of arrows - since the fallen enemies create a carpet of bodies, the rest won't be able to charge: too much "rubble".

If I would be in a Brecht Infantery unit I certainly would not charge ;-)

Brecht units are in the 2E books described as lightly armoured and

maneuveralble, not fighting in blocks, shield to shield, but in flexible

formations. On the pictures of the battle cards they fight with two

weapons instead of weapon and shield.

So they are designed to use their mobility and speed against the heavier

armour and slowness of for example Anuirean Infantery.

Now would someone with such an equipment and a Brecht mindset which is

more interested in money than glory charge into the enemy line?

The few 2E infantery units that had charge attacks were for example the

elite of the elite, the Imperial Guard, the ferocious berserkers of the

Vos and some units of Awnsheglien.

I would once again like to suggest using the `specialty holding`

mechanic as a method of easily `porting this war-academy into an

existing BR campaign.

You could find the details of these rules at
