Bloodines Problem Solved?

The upcoming Unearthed Arcana is going to have rules for bloodlines. Birthright should just use that.

That could be anything from the new coming of BR to rules for spell

acquisition for sorcerors. I wish we knew more. Darn those teases! When

does that book come out, anyway?



Let`s see, bloodlines in UA, war rules in Cry Havoc. All we`d need would

be domain rules and RP type rules.

The bloodlines are reminiscent of (and partly inspired by) the Birthright setting, but they're not the same thing.

I haven`t seen any information on bloodlines in that book. Do you have a

reference?

OK, cool. Interesting. I suspect their going for a more general system of

portraying a sort of mythic nobility, but that doesn`t mean it won`t

provide some inspiration for use in the setting that inspired it....

So in order to play Birthright then, people would have to have Unearthed Arcana, Cry Havoc and all of the Core D&D books?

For people overseas this could be very expensive and potentially nigh well impossible. Not all of these products are available (based on reports of our overseas brethern) and many have to pay exceptionally high cost in low income areas. Heck it would be expensive for the low income Americans among us, many are students after all - how could be deny them their beer and pizza money ;) .

Last I heard Cry Havoc was only available as a download and not in print.

Nope its in print as well. Cry Havoc has been out in print for at least a

month now.

Everything in UA will be OGC, so that section could potentially be ripped

and modified for BR and republished online. Similarly, the war rules from

Cry Havoc are OGC. They also summarize mostly to "treat a group of X

soldiers as one figure and use a battlemat pretty much as normal". There

are a couple of extra tweaks to make it work better, but it`s really

pretty simple if you already know the 3e D&D rules. You need unit

statistics, but that`s most of what I`m writing for the chapter 5

revision. Lots and lots of unit stats, plus a couple more hooks to the BR

system, such as muster and maintenance costs, for example.

The SRD is also available online, replacing the need for the core books

even.

Been in print a while now, Malhavoc releases things in PDF first and

follows up a while later with print.
