What do you fine folks on this list think of the book "A Magical Medieval

Society: Western Europe" by Expeditious Retreat Press. Is it a good and

suitable aid for a Birthright campaign?

The question is: What do YOU think of it?

More to the point: is it worth trying to obtain and read?

To whom does the pronoun "you" refer?

Well, I was addressing the person who first posted, assuming that to be Lord Rahvin. But I am quite interested in anyone's critique of the work.

I can assure you, I am not Lord Rahvin. Should I take that as a compliment?

Ah...well, you'd best sign a name then, because you come through on the Birthright-L username (which is often Lord Rahvin). But whoever you are, I'd love to hear your critique.

1. There`s a *LOT* more people on birthright-l than Lord Rahvin.

<< But whoever you are, I`d love to hear your critique. >>

2. Critique? I was asking for critique, not offering. I don`t have the book,

but am considering buying it, hence I`d love to know what other people think

of it with respect to its utility in a Birthright game.

Ah-ha...being a latecomer to BR.net, I am still not clear on what exactly Birthright-L represents. Any help?

The Birthright.net message boards interact with Birthright-L, the WotC

sponsored email list, thanks to the efforts of Arjan, the Birthright.net

webmaster. If it says Birthright-L rather than an ID that means the post

is written by someone who doesn`t have an ID on Birthright.net. (At least,

that`s how I think it works....) Information on the Birthright list and

other WotC sponsored email lists is available at:

Thanx Gary,

Its indeed the way you say it is.

The script is written so that when an email comes in from the Birthright-L mailing lists it checkes if the sender of an email is also a member of Brnet.
If the sender isnt a member of BRnet all messages are given the Birthright-L poster ID.

I maight alter the code a bit so that it display: "blablabla AT something.com" wrote: etc etc.

i have to replace the @ because of email extraction software.

In the spirit of giving users various titles to Birthright.net users as

they sign up why not do something similar for messages that come from

birthright-l listers who aren`t also birthright.net members? Posts from BR

Lister/BR.net non-members might have "Ley Line" or "Heir" or something like

that as a title....

I wonder how come my name, "Lord Rahvin", never goes through. I have an

account on both.

It probably checks the From: line by email address to see if you`re the

same person, it might even be case-sensitive, so if you check your

settings on the board it will probably show up as different from the

"lordrahvin@SOFTHOME.NET" you`re coming across as on the list.
