I`ve just always marveled at how many authors copy the world of
Middle-Earth
without ever realizing it. Heck, when I was younger I did the exact
same
thing and truly didn`t realize it until one of my players mentioned it
to
me......and then I changed the entire campaign world. :-)

Everyone does this I think; I myself do it a lot (though I try to make
it not-so-very-obvious).
Besides, I like to think of it as "creative retooling", not copying ;-)
