View Full Version : City of Anuire
Does anyone have a decent/good map of the City of Anuire? I have been looking all around the internet and can't find one. I know its a massive city and I don't really want to make it from scratch, especially since all I have to go by is the Birthright box set. Please email me the image at arv@twmi.rr.com

ooo, and post a link to it if you find it on the web! I think it'd be nifty to have one as well.
But did TSR ever publish a map of the city? I'm not sure they did.

Ian Hoskins made one in one of his many projects which sadly never got finished...if only there were someone to pay him for that...he really deserves it.
Anyway, I don`t have that map on my hard disk but I`ll look for it on a CD. Even if I find it, it might be too large to send by mail so I might upload it somewhere.

What ever happened to the Imperial City on-line stuff? Is it still around?

I believe that level of detail (street level) was being worked on, but I
only have the
files that were put on the online city website and MV`s 3d artwork. There
was a development team rather than one individual working on that project,
so someone must have more data. (Probably is one of those things that
should be in the download section of BR.net). The data is written up for 2e
but very little needs to be translated to 3E if anyone feels the need.
I can zip up and email what I have though it may be best to get into
contact with the original team.
BTW, I may have quoted the wrong artist, the initials on the temple and
palace pictures is MV, possibly Manfred Völk
Regards,
Doyle.

I have copies of almost all the information created for the Imperial City Project as I was the one running the webpage at the time (not the project, just the page).
For the OCP map go to http://users.chariot.net.au/~hoss/city.jpg
That map was the one the project was using with the eventual plan of doing individual island maps to show the street-level sites of the city.
Another map of Anuire I had sitting on my HD can be downloaded from
http://users.chariot.net.au/~hoss/Anuire.jpg
I don't know where I got this one from, but recall I got it around 1996 from a site that vanished soon after. Anway, this map is probably more what you are looking for.
If you have any other questions about the Online City Project, I can probably answer them as well.

Ah, yes, the Online City Project. What fair memories. I agree that Ian should get paid for the effort he put into it. I submitted quite a few things to it, and was really excited about it, but went through a divorce towards the end and wasn't able to put much time into it. I'd love to see it revived as a section of Birthright.net. hint hint
Any chance the information we had for it could be zipped into a single file for people to grab, even in its incomplete aspect?
That second map is pretty good, thanks.:)

That is a possibility, if enough people were interested. I have toyed with the idea of restarting the Online City Project quite a bit in the past couple of months, even getting to the point of locating all the old material and starting to sort through it.
If enough people are interested I could set up a new page with all the information that has been created to date, and some new material that I've been working on. What the project really needs though is a new map, and I am a terrible artist, so if anyone is interested in drawing up a new map, please contact me at hoss@chariot.net.au. I can scan the rough drawings I drew up for the city as something to work from.
It would be nice to see something like the city project that is currently being pursued on enworld happen for Birthright.
Anyway, I've uploaded all the old material into a zip file for you to download. This material is unsorted, and a complete mess, but still usable. You can download it from http://users.chariot.net.au/~hoss/City.zip
As far as I am aware this is a copy of everything that was ever created for the OCP and also has some material that was never released on the webpage (the list of emperors for example).

I tried opening your zip file and it says "this file doesn't appear to be a valid zip file" or something like that

How large was the zip file you downloaded? What you describe usually occurs when you don't have the full version of the file, or it has been corrupted somehow. Try downloading the file again, it should be around 3.09 meg in size.
Has anyone else downloaded it successfully?
Yeah I opened it successfully. Try downloading it again.
