Hi everybody!!!!
My name is Matteo and I’m new on birthright.net. I’m Italian and I first discovered Birthright few years ago when the “cities of the sun” expansion appeared in my country. At that time I bought the starting boxed set and I was interested in the original setting but no more domain sourcebooks except the Talinie one were sold because of the TSR closure. So I had to buy the “cities of the sun” boxed set, the Ariya, Binsada and Khourane books, but, again, no more sourcebooks were sold (at least in Italy). In the meantime I managed to buy some other expansions but no more sourcebooks!!!!!!
Now, I’m looking for any sourcebook I can get in the Talinie area (the first-made, “ruins of an empire” setting) OR to “complete” the “cities of the sun” setting with at least another state (but I would prefer the first one), and I’m also interested in the priest and deities book. Can you tell me where I can find, buy or exchange them on the net???? I’m not just looking for the original packaging… any copy that could let us play will be great, but they must be TSR materials, I saw a lot of “low profile” non-original materials on the net written by unknown people, and I’m not interested in that.
And also… do you think the “giantdown” supplement is worth the price? I had a nice offer but I don’t know if it would be interesting or enjoyable. I would also appreciate any other comment on the game supplements from you.
Thank you very much for your time,
write me back at vince_mannesmann@yahoo.it
HAVE FUN!!!
Matteo

Looking at SVgames.com website you might find lots of the sourcebooks
legally, but I`ll warn you right away, most of them are really crappy
picture-scans of the original product with a production value more or
less = 0.
So I would prefeer to try to get the books through ebay/qxl
Check out this acution f. inst. I just found
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...3&category=2545 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3108918443&category=2545)
I`m tempted myself :)

The saddest thing is that illegal scans are better than those of
SVgames. They are all straightly scanned, have regular warcards and are
even OCRed! I think Wizard should really set higher criteria when
allowing other companies to sell ESDs of their old products.

The interresting question would be if someone had a good scan of a BR
product and offered to
sell/give it to SVgames would they take it ? That way maybe they could
replace their own large (in bytes) and crappy scans with something from
someone that actually cared about the product.... :)

Those people who scanned that stuff and made it available for download
broke the copyright laws. Svgames could just download that stuff and
sell it without having to compensate that person because he/she has no
ownership rights over those scans.

If you really need the original stuff, write a private message to me. In Germany is enough of this old source book stuff around, so maybe I can hand some to you.
