You can imagine how i felt when i saw that Birthright (probably the finest Ad&d realm ever) is set for a glorious comeback!! but my question is this, has this project got full commercial backing? and how long before we see it (best guess plz) in England?

We are the official website of Birthright as backed by WotC and we do have permission to create a rules conversion.

Time frame... well tough to say. Its much more dificult to coordinate over the web than in real life. We have 6 of 8 chapters largely done. Its up to 111 pages so far, so there is progress being made. We hit a lull for a couple of months, but progress is picking back up. Sit tight fellas (and ladies...) the project is by no means "dead"!

Here's an interesting one:

Would it be possible to release a chapter a month?

The possible benefits would be:

A: Silence the vocal crowd *demanding* the book.
B: Get people 'stoked' for the setting.
C: Add incentive to the BR team to complete those last two chapters by introducing a "deadline", albeit 6 months down the road.

Just a thought from someone who is interested in seeing the book come out, but isn't going to go hang himself if it doesn't come out at all...

OK, its time for me to jump in (found some spare time...gf is sleeping)

As you all know there have been rumours that BR was going to be published.
I have had alot of contact with many publishers about the possibility.

This is the main reason that we havnt released a single line. Even our developers files are on a secure server because some of the publishers that were interested didnt want to publish a CS of which parts already exist on the internet.

So please dont get it on us, we all want the best for BR, and the other guys are seriously folowing every thread this community has posted and have answered them aswell.

Its not that people are left out of the group or that our egoism is too high to just do it ourselves, but as Travis stated, many were invited but never attended. And after all: you ALL contributed to the upcoming BRCS.
Since the initial release of 3E there have been many conversations about how to handle BR. We are just trying to put everything together and make it a valuable book that can be used in every 3eBR campaign.

Travis did a damn good job on his initial conversion manual, and we use it as a base for the new version. (new one is already over 115 pages).

hope you guys and gals understand our position.

our goal is to realease the BRCS early next year if it turns out that it will be a free non-commercial product.

This probably should have been said early lol.

Thanks for the info Arjan...

In case you hadn't guessed, I'm one of those 'moderate' fans out there... I don't like pushing, I don't like pushy fans, but I *am* anxious to see what is being worked on.

I just wish that I was around back when the project got off the ground so I could have taken part in it. :( Anyways, thanks for all of the hard work to you and the team (please pass that along), and here's hoping to see it out soon.

I don`t think you`re going to have any luck with this. There has been
interest in doing 3e/d20 print versions of Planescape, Dark Sun, and
Spelljammer (at least). None of these have happened. Report is that
Wizards wants to be the one to publish the campaign setting hardcover,
because that`s the product that has the highest profit margins and sales.
Later products are left to the publisher that purchased the rights to the
setting.

This is a rumor, but Weis and Hickman`s company purchased the rights to
Dragonlance, and Wizards is publishing the hardcover for it next summer.
That fits the description.

It would be very hard to recoup the investment of purchasing rights to the
setting, based on publishing secondary products. It will be hard as hell
for something as popular as Dragonlance. For BR, probably impossible.

Very possibly the best way to go with something like this is by a
subscription basis, the way many books were published in the eighteenth
century.

True that wizards want to publish all CS hardcovers. But its also known that wotc doesnt have the capacity to do so (after the big layoff).
I am still in contact with one company, so there still is a change.

BUT i dont count on it, and i dont care. ofcourse i really would like to see it as a hardcover, but the content is still the same!

the only thing i know for sure is that it getting out there and that it made for the BR fans by the BR fans.

so until nothing is sure: IT WILL BE A FREE non-commercial DOWNLOADABLE PRODUCT
