Drawn from similar stock to the people Nortmoor, the inhabitants of Soutmoor live amongst open plains and peat bogs and have no hereditary lord to rule their province. They are an independent people, more likely to send a ducal tax collector on his way with a nice covering of tar and feathers than a sack full of coins. Unlike Nortmoor, however, the people here have less to fear, although the occasional party of gnolls or bandits menaces travellers. Mheallie Bireon’s influence here is considerable and many consider her hold on the province to be greater than the duke’s.
