From BRWiki
Roleplaying is simulating the roles, responsibilities and characteristics of another person. In fantasy roleplaying games like Dungeons & Dragons, this entails taking on a heroic fictional persona that generally has a role (e.g. classes like being a warrior, a priest or a thief) and a set of skills (e.g. magic casting, lock-picking, expertise at archery). Together with a party of similar heroes, the player's character is presented with a variety of virtual problems and scenarios which they endeavour to overcome. This is normally all done verbally, with chance being simulated through the use of dice.
