Lord Malcolm Mierelen (MAn, Nbl 4; An, Major, 25), Lord of Stormwatch Isle, is the Duchess of Brosengae's chief advisor. A middle-aged outspoken man with some controversial views, he was the one-time senator for Brosengae at the Imperial City, but who now spends weeks or months alone on Stormwatch Isle in research whenever he can.
Said to be interested in everything from astronomy and archaeology to history and zoology, Malcolm is a skilled diplomat and is revered in Brosengae for his wise counsel. It is well known that he and Lady Elaenadaere were very close and it was she who bestowed upon him the honorary title of "Lord of Stormwatch Isle", a non-hereditary title with no actual powers other than the right to safeguard the little island on which he has spent so much time.
It is said that his great knowledge and insight derive partly from the persistent rumours that he is much older than he looks, but the rumours are dismissed by the court and ignored by him.
