Rjurik ยป Laghman
In Rjurik lands, skald characters are described as lawful. The skald has the duty to memorize the law and recite at the assemly known as the athing. This is presided over by a skald who holds the office of lawspeaker, known as a laghman. He acts as judge and chairman of the assembly and is also responsible for the execution of the decisions. It is his duty to safeguard the rights and liberties of the people and to speak in their behalf to the king or his representative.
Apart from his function as a lawsayer and chairman of the court, the laghman has no formal power, but he is often appointed as an arbitrator in frequently arising disputes.
