ViewsItemFrom BrWikiMain Page » Item Legendary Items Most campaigns have artefacts of one kind or another - no mere simple chair, wagon or the like, but items of historic or magical power (often both). These lusted after artefacts are known in song and legend and have value far beyond simple gold.
[edit] Non Magical ItemsNon-magical items typically merit mention due to a legendary history, cultural significance, and the like. As such although they do not need a red band they should have a 'Fanfic' banner.
Please add a Fanfic banner to the top of an item page:
If the items history is particularly slanted towards one view or another, or represents a possibly controversial interpretation of canon or lore please add an observation banner instead:
[edit] Magical ItemsBecause magical items can have a substantial effect on play, particularly in Birthright campaigns which tend to be played as a 'strong but scarce' magic campaigns, please add a red banner at the top of the page when adding a magic item to BRwiki in addition to the Fanfic banner.
[edit] ArmourOnly a wielder of true magic can typically craft a permanent item of power, accordingly magical armour is rare and highly prized. Only the dwarves, elves, and higher nobility typically have access to magical armour and most suits are made to order both in terms of physical crafting and magical power.
[edit] Weapons
In a martial world such as Cerilia magic weapons are sure to when a wielder of true magic fame and honour - even the Vos prize a well crafted and mighty axe or sword, though few Vos would accept a weapon made by a living wizard, lest the wizard use the spiritual connection between warrior and blade to meddle with the warrior's soul. Most magical weapons in Vos and Rjurik lands are made by priests - typically of Belinik, for Kriesha is typically more subtle although her priests are known for magical knives.
[edit] Potions and ScrollsPotions and scrolls are single use magic items, in Cerilia these are typically brewed by magicians and minor priestlings, wielders of true magic tend to scorn such feeble magics as beneath them, although the legendary Black Broth of the Serpent is said to be a mighty work of magic indeed.
[edit] JewelleryKhinasi wizards favour magical rings above even magic armour, and Khinasi tales often revolve around the powers of a wishing ring or some other legendary piece. The Brecht also value rings for their unobtrusiveness (if plain) or in a dual use as jewellery - few are permitted in civilized places wearing armour and carrying blades, but who would force a merchant to remove his rings? Magical amulets and circlets are similarly popular in these areas as they are rarely recognized as magical but do reflect the glory of the wearer.
[edit] Rods, Staffs and Wands
Legends speak of the terrible power of a wizard or druid's staff, many a witch has been detected by inquisitors for her 'fondness for her broom' and burned to prove her wrongdoing. While many of the educated in Cerilia can accept an 'honest' magic blade or suit of armour few would trust the duplicity inherent in a magical stave, let along a wand.
[edit] Wondrous itemThis is a 'grab bag' for items which do not easily fit into one of the above categories. The whimsy of elves has produced many magical items which fit into this category including crystal balls and magical mirrors both of which fascinate the elves, the few dwarven wizards tend to produce a small number of deeply practical items which are more often tools than weapons.
