Biography:

Eluvie Cariele, like others of her dynasty, has a pride that can verge on haughtiness. This characteristic may have cost her family its control of Cariele, and it now denies Eluvie the following in Coeranys that the Coeran family experienced. Indeed much of the love of the people rests with Eluvie's nephew, William Moergen, whose struggle against the tyranny of Jaison Raenech combines William's natural charm with a romantic struggle for justice. Eluvie controls only half of the law in her realm and she tries to put a pleasing facade on her weakness, contrasting it with the abuse of law and power in neighboring Osoerde. In the mean-time she hopes to keep rival powers from establishing their own law holdings in her realm. Another of the familiar traits of her line is a deep loyalty, concern, and sense of responsibility for her people. This seems capable of holding her realm secure until her more popular son, Alun Coeran, becomes regent.

Eluvie was married to Coerwenn Coeran, who invested his wife with his realm and regency when illness threatened his life and his son, Alun, was an infant. Eluvie remarried, to a local noble, Cadfael Duorn, but their children will succeed in Duornil.
