In Birthright canon Cerilia is considered cut-off from the planes with its own unique cosmology formed of Aebrynis (the prime material plane) and the Shadow World (a mutable plane of dreams, nightmares and the spirit beyond which the gods lie). Many of these creatures are nevertheless usable - elemental creatures ma inhabit appropriate areas of Aebrynis while more fantastical creatures may dwell in the Shadow World.
